Ring Jacket 206
Both Ariston and this particular jacket has had my attention for quite a while now.
Being more than averagely interested in Neapolitan tailoring and as such anything related, Ariston fabrics has been high on my list and this jacket surfacing last year piqued that interest in full. As this cloth would suggest, Ariston is not afraid of big scale checks and bold colour combinations, which, needless to say, aligns well with myself.
However, there was a reason for me pulling the trigger on this as late as I did.
Back when the jacket was revealed I had a look in the Ariston bunch book and although infatuated by their beautiful cloths, they were generally too heavy for my liking. Essentially I figured that I would end up with a jacket that screams summer, but would only be able to wear during the colder parts of spring and fall (and winter for that matter).
Now, in hindsight I of course understand that assuming this with regards to this particular fabric was foolish and short-sighted, as it turns out it’s not a heavy fabric at all.
Not just was it lighter, but the weave was fairly open. Of course with a pattern like this the weave will be on the more intricate side, with differently sized threads and alternating plain weaves which leads to more airflow. Although I wouldn’t put this fabric in the midsummer category, I was definitely pleasantly surprised with its breathability.
