Neapolitan influence in a Japanese frame with a Scandinavian mindset

outBespoken is first and foremost a personal journal celebrating sartorialism through the lens of a Scandinavian whom discovered Neapolitan tailoring while living in Japan.

My aim is to provide you with my personal thoughts as well as more thorough investigations into style and sartorially relevant topics and last but not least, a quest to find Japanese brands, designers and artisans embracing Neapolitan and Italian tradition.

Because style engages both your eyes and your mind my approach is twofold with and equal focus on written and visual presentation.

While the written journal is described above, the visual journal is best experienced through the outBespoken instagram account.

Beyond style and tailoring tradition, Japanese, Scandinavian and Italian art, design and architecture, both current and historically, has an immense influence on my approach to style:

Scandinavian and Japanese minimalism, functionality and focus on beauty in simplicity as the ground structure. Italian and Japanese boldness in colour and pattern as ornamental inspiration.

I invite you to read, look, engage and hopefully be inspired.

Additional information for Instagram.

My feed is a curated library of what I wear, posted in series of three posts; full body, details and lastly shoes and socks (with some occasional variations to this set-up). It is not necessarily posted on the same day or even the same week, but my aim is to make a representation of two outfits I wore that week, which usually entails one suit, or at least tie outfit, and one more casual.

I enjoy experimenting with colour and pattern, but it should be emphasised that I pick the outfits I find most interesting and that might skew the perception, which is why I try to also show a significant amount of casual, more sober outfits.

Important: I am not a seller.

There is no indication that I am whatsoever, which is why you most likely will not get a response to any inquiry that assumes that I am.

Secondly, read the captions. Half of the questions I get can easily be answered by either reading the caption or looking at the previous post. I am a firm believer that time is our most valuable asset. If you show that you don’t care about my time enough to do 5 seconds of reading, don’t expect me to give you 5 seconds of my time. I know this sounds harsh, but manners matters just as much as what you wear.
