Loro Piana

Royal Wish

Ring Jacket

The second jacket that came about this spring,

which matched my wishlist perfectly, a casual double breasted blazer.

Cloth Properties

  • 220g

  • Super 170’s Wool 90%, Silk 10%

  • Plain Weave

Anyone familiar with this quality will agree that it is an immensely great cloth. 17 micron, Super 170s in a beautiful plain weave.

It’s one of the most comfortable cloths I have ever worn and a serious contender for a full suit.

Although the weave is not as open as the high-twists I prefer, it’s not really particularly tight and the density of the threads makes for some fairly good air flow.

For this model the most obvious aspect of how wearable it will be is the fact that it’s a double breasted jacket.

That extra layer does make it more insulating.

That said, I tend to wear it open for the most part, especially in more casual outfits, so I don’t see this as being an obstacle in wearing it.

My impression up until now is that it wears incredibly light and cool and is fairly breathable.

Cloth Look

Although the the weave creates quite a beautiful surface for this cloth the colour is the real point of interest.

Given the name of this cloth, naturally I want to call this a royal blue jacket, and actually the thread in the weft is. But with the navy thread in the warp it does end up looking darker, but not quite navy.

Seeing that I generally am not drawn to navy suits or jackets, I think this colour is a good middle way and quite a lot more interesting.

This is the second jacket acquired with mother of pearl buttons and I really have grown to like the look;

sort of elevated and less formal at the same time.
