254 / 269

I thought I would do a post presenting some jacket models from Ring Jacket, seeing as they are both frequently appearing in my daily wear section. Generally speaking the same size should work for you across all models, but there are some differences that could make some models better as a base model for you depending on your body type.

In this article I’ll give a little look into model No-254 and No-269.

Model No-254

This model is one of the more refined silhouettes you’ll see. It’s made under the Ring Jacket Meister label and you’ll find that the more luxurious fabrics are usually used for this model in their ready-to-wear catalogue.

It’s a somewhat slimmer model and has a really nice silhouette. The lapels aren’t overly wide but usually measuring about 8,8cm.

In my experience this model has the highest cut armhole and admittedly for someone with quite a broad chest some of the jackets is not an easy fit. The ones I have gotten though, fit as if they were bespoke (or as I imagine bespoke would fit).

Just adding that of course as you’ll see with all jacket models from Ring Jacket, this has a 3-roll-2 buttoning.

As all jackets Ring Jacket make have spalla camicia or at least soft shoulders, you won’t really be disappointed with any of them, but I think No-254 has the most elegant shoulder with a very sophisticated amount of grinze (shirring or puckered rippling associated with Neapolitan tailoring).

This model also has a hip pocket on the inside which is really convenient, that you won’t find on all models.

Model No-269

This is the one you’ll see me wear most often. All the suits I have and the majority of my jackets are in this model. I would call it sort of a lower range standard model as in you’ll find this model in a broader range of fabrics from cheaper to luxurious.

It’s also a model that doesn’t have a lot of extras in terms of details.

That being said, this is still a beautiful and great jacket, an opinion which obviously is further emphasised by the fact that I have so many jackets in this model

It has a soft shoulder but pretty much ‘straight lines’ other than that. You might occasionally find some jackets with a little more grinze. But I would however add that this shoulder gets a really nice natural look to it when worn.

On the other hand, this is a model with quite wide lapels at 9,5cm, which was one of the details that turned me onto it in the first place. Usually has double lined pick stitching along the lapels, skirt and pockets.

For someone with a broader chest this makes a great model to start from.

It has a little wider fit but still a beautiful silhouette and in my case perfect fit for my shoulders.

The armholes aren’t cut quite as high as with the No-254 but still more than hight enough to avoid any unwanted jacket movement when you’re calling for that taxi.

Also you’ll notice that it has a little higher buttons stance with the lowest button aligning just slightly higher than the pockets.

Both of these two models has quite a high and not so downwards angled gorge line which makes them look very elegant.

In the above pictures; first row are No-269, second row No-254.

I’m hoping to be able to get some experience with two other models, the No-286 and No-294 in the near future.

These both have the same wide lapel as the No-269 albeit a slightly lower gorge line.

Also, at least for the No-286, more of that shoulder you’ll see on the No-254, which makes sense seeing as they’re both Meister models.

I hope this comparison helped a little to those whom might be interested in these jackets based on the pictures I’ve posted.

Stay tuned.
