Fox Air Olive 2.0
Ring Jacket MTO
It shouldn’t be a secret that I’ve grown quite fond of Fox Brothers. Actually there was never any growing involved, I was instantly a fan.
So naturally with Fox Brothers also making the Fox Air cloth, I couldn’t wait to acquire it.
Even at 285/315g it wears incredibly light and feels very breathable. I would also add that the fabric softens quite a bit with wear, as opposed to Fresco. Also compared to Crispaire, although Crispaire is remarkably soft to begin with.
That being said, the fact that it does soften doesn’t take anything away in terms of look or texture and it bounces back just as fast now as it did in the beginning.
Cloth Look
Similar to the walnut brown, the weave also encompasses a char-blue tone to give more richness and depth to the cloth.
The Jacket
The models this jacket is based on is the same No-269 jacket model as previous suits. I have been tempted to switch to the No-286 jacket model (same as the Ferla Jacket), which would actually look great in this fabric, but I leaving that option open for now.
The jacket is the same as my previous acquisitions based on the 269 model; 3 roll 2, double stitch details and patch pockets as some of the main style features.
The shoulder is probably my favourite part about Ring Jackets tailoring. The spalla camicia construction has an understated amount of grinze, which I think makes the puckering look natural. Additionally because the shoulders are tailored in a slightly forward sloping manner it follows the build of my shoulders perfectly.
The Trousers
Yet another update and yet another pair of bespoke trousers from Igarashi.
Below: Ring Jacket and Igarashi side by side
As mentioned in the article about the brown Fox Air, I chose this suit to add another pair of trousers to. As will be the case for both Fox Air suits, the bespoke Igarashi trousers will serve as the main suit trousers to cement the more laidback and casual feel intended for these suits. This of course, with the option to wear the former Ring Jacket trousers if a slightly more formal feel is needed.
You can read about my first experience with Igarashi here.
As far as style goes, similar to the first acquisitions from Igarashi, these are gurkha style trousers with a two-buttoned, tall waistband with and elongated belt. The two style preferences I tried for each of the flannel trousers that I will decide based on purpose are coin pocket and style of side adjusters. As with the brown Fox Air trousers I went with a coin pocket and the straight side adjusters for these.
Lastly I just have to again give some well deserved praise to the pleats. This is an area Igarashi shines above anyone else.
Conclusion
Upon finding Fox Air as well as other bunch books from Fox Brothers and with the experience I have with their fabrics, it has become abundantly clear that Fox Brothers is a merchant I stand behind and recommend. The olive green in this presentation, as well as the walnut brown in the previous, were obvious first choices in my case, being that I am weak for brown and green tones. Even so, between the two there was a big internal struggle on which to get first.
Moreover, as just alluded to, there is just an abundance of great colours and patterns to choose from, too many to be honest.
