Tallia Di Delfino

Cashmere/Silk/Linen

Ring Jacket

I remember having this conversation last year when considering a fairly similar looking cloth from Lanificio Corrado, but my conclusion was that it was a little too heavy (290g) and that the colour was a little to pink for what I wanted.

“If only the red tone was a little more brownish and the cloth was lighter”.

Well, I’m not sure if this was them deliberately answering my call, but this cloth was literally (and I mean literally) what I was envisioning.

Cloth Properties

Tallia Di Delfino

  • 225g

  • Cashmere 55%, Silk 25%, Linen 20%

  • Plain Weave

I’m not sure whether I can adequately convey how wonderful this cloth is and how well it performs.

One thing is the lightness, it feels like a cardigan, more so than a jacket.

But the air flow provided with this plain weave is also something else.

Because of the denser, more fussy yarn it doesn’t look as open, but that fuzziness doesn’t restrict any airflow, thus you get a more solid looking appearance while not taking away any breathability.

The fact that the majority fiber is cashmere as opposed to wool also makes for a lighter wearing jacket, not only in weight but the feel.

There’s no way around it, swapping wool for cashmere has one of the biggest impacts on how wearable a cloth is during summer.

It’s lighter thus the cloth becomes lighter over all and cashmere has some impressive body temperature regulating properties, resulting in the ability to keep you warm in winter and cool in the summer. The latter obviously being what we want here.

Cloth Look

The colour, although some might argue crimson or ruby, for the sake of convenience, I’ll stick with burgundy, has a slight brownish tone to it, not easily picked up in a photo. While lighter, some white, under threads creates a more interesting and textured appearance, although the fuzzy yarn does that quite well on its own.

The one thing I would add is that the the cashmere and the lower weight of the cloth might result in parts of the jacket, like the lapels, looking slightly less structured. Given that this is a jacket mainly for the hotter months, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing but something one should be aware of if choosing a similar cloth.

Now the icing on the cake comes with the addition of dark burgundy mother of pearl buttons and the lining which is simply stunning.

Unfortunately this cloth is a Ring Jacket commission from Tallia Di Delfino so it’s not available but there are similar cloths out there from the likes of Piacenza.
